Tell us something about yourself!
My family and I moved to Homewood three years ago to finish my last year of surgical training, but, thankfully, a one-year-stay turned into much more. My wife Elizabeth and our two children now call Homewood, AL home and have enjoyed immersing into the community. We love the Edgewood parks, restaurants, and all the great families here that we call friends. My wife enjoys interior decorating and worked with Chickadee Interiors to make our Homewood house a home that was featured in this month’s Birmingham Home and Garden Magazine.
What does it mean to practice exclusively facial plastic surgery?
At Rousso Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic, we practice strictly plastic surgery on the face, neck, and scalp areas. We are experts in facial anatomy, and utilize our expertise for procedures such as facelifts, rhinoplasties, eyelid surgery, facial implants, skin resurfacing, hair restoration, filler, and Botox. Both Dr. Daniel Rousso and I are uniquely focused on delivering natural results for our patients in Alabama and beyond. Please visit our website for a full list of our procedures at www.drrousso.com.
Since the pandemic, have you seen a shift in the types of procedures requested?
Absolutely. Our clinic has seen a post-quarantine plastic surgery boom. I feel a combination of factors have motivated patients to pursue facial plastic and hair restoration procedures. Virtual meetings have definitely made people more aware of their perceived imperfections, as they can now see themselves during conversations. That combined with the ability to work and recover from home has led to many more people seeking our services.
We have seen the largest uptick in rhinoplasties among the teenagers and young adults. Because school is starting later or going completely virtual for the time being, they are taking advantage of the extra time to heal from their rhinoplasty with discretion. If they do have to go back to work, masks are hiding their face allowing them to work while healing.
We have also seen a 20% increase in our facelifts. This procedure requires a 2-4-week healing process, and now is a great time to have this surgery since the world has slowed down socially, and people are working from home.
Our hair procedures have also significantly increased among men in their early 30’s due to having more downtime to recover and the ability to avoid the worry of having to return to an office environment after the procedure.
The most popular non-surgical procedure since the shutdown has been Botox and filler. Because patients can hide any signs of the procedure behind their mask, patients are finding that now is the time to try filler for the cheeks, lips, and even in the nose (liquid rhinoplasty). And since patients have missed their Botox appointments from March-May, we are playing catch-up. Masks can’t hide forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet!
How safe is it to have facial plastic surgery during the coronavirus?
At Rousso Facial Plastic Surgery, we have two accredited operating suites in our office which gives our patients extra assurance that we meet the highest standards of sanitization and sterilization while avoiding the hospital setting.
The additional safety precautions we implemented in March have kept our clinic COVID-free. We test our employees regularly, and all of our surgery patients are tested as well. But we know that not all patients are comfortable coming in to the office, so we also offer virtual consultations.
Dr. Adams is offering complimentary consultations to his fellow Homewood members, as well as $300 off a combination of Botox and filler. To schedule an appointment, call 205.930.9595 and mention the Homewood Chamber.
