One of our New Year’s Resolutions is to make sure that are members are aware of all of the great benefits that we offer. As a part of this plan, we are going to begin sharing Member Benefit Spotlights that focus on specific member benefits, taking a more in-depth look at how these benefits can help your business. This month, we are starting off with more information about our Ambassador Committee.
What do ambassadors do?
Our ambassador activities are a lot of fun. Most months, we go out to lunches and discuss Homewood’s upcoming events and how we can work to make Homewood a better place to work and live. In March, our ambassadors volunteer at our largest fundraiser of the year: Taste of Homewood. Ambassadors work in various roles for one shift and are provided the opportunity to enjoy the many food offerings, networking and live music at the event. In October, we work together at the Homewood Chamber Golf Classic, an afternoon of networking, golfing and enjoying refreshments with like-minded professionals. Ambassadors are usually asked to spend a shift helping with registration, door prize table setup, or other similar needs during the golf tournament. Throughout the year, ambassadors are invited to participate in ribbon cuttings, networking events and monthly membership luncheons, all of which provide ambassadors the opportunity to meet with various members of the Homewood business community. We have an annual Christmas party with our Board of Directors that allows us a chance to socialize with one another and reflect on our year spent working together. During our Annual Meeting in December, we recognize our Ambassador of the Year in appreciation of their service to our community.
What type of professionals are on the Ambassador Committee?
We have a great mix of professionals on our Ambassador Committee including: local attorneys, advertising sales representatives, financial advisers, bank executives, healthcare, small business owners, and more. Serving on the committee is most beneficial to professionals who benefit from networking with business owners, but we are open to all who are interested.
What do current ambassadors say about the committee?
“As a part of my business practice, I serve individuals and business owners in Homewood. Being an ambassador has been an excellent way to build my network of professionals and also stay in touch with what’s happening in the thriving Homewood business community.”
-Rachel Reynolds, Financial Adviser | Edward Jones
“The best part of being an Ambassador with the Homewood Chamber is getting to meet the new businesses that are trying to get involved in Homewood.”
-Rhett McCreight, Sales Manager | Shelby County Newspapers, Inc.
How Can I Join the Committee?
We accept applications for new ambassadors throughout the year. All Homewood Chamber members in good standing are invited to join our Ambassador Committee. The application is available on our website.
